Omnichannel Retail and E-Commerce Save Consumers Time and Money and Reduce Emissions

Washington – A new report by CCIA explores how e-commerce and omnichannel retail options have transformed the way consumers shop, offering significant time and fuel savings, monetary benefits, and environmental advantages. 

Important takeaways:

  • Home delivery e-commerce saves each rural consumer nearly $1000 and each urban consumes over $500 each year
  • In total, the savings per consumer from omnichannel shopping options like buy online, pick up in store are around $150 for rural consumers and around $90 for urban consumers each year
  • Emissions reductions are equivalent to taking hundreds of thousands of cars off the road annually if adopted at scale, leading to environmental benefits valued at over $1 billion each year.
