CCIA Welcomes Release of White House National Space Transportation Policy

Washington – The White House has released its National Space Transportation Policy, identifying space launches and transportation as a key national security and economic goal. The memorandum sets a goal of more than 1,000 space launches and reentries every year by 2030. The President directs a wide range of federal agencies to provide plans within the coming months to address a variety of challenges to maintain U.S. space superiority.

The memorandum also requires both an initial report and follow-up reports from the Commerce Department and Federal Communications Commission on access to spectrum, as satellites are providing high-speed internet in hard-to-reach areas.

The Computer & Communications Industry Association’s Space and Spectrum Policy Center advocates for modernized spaceport infrastructure, streamlined launch licensing and environmental reviews, and integrated air and space traffic management to ensure the commercial satellite industry can scale to meet the growing demand. As highlighted in CCIA’s 2026 Launch Report, meeting the demand for launch capacity is a vital step to ensure U.S. leadership in commercial space.

The following can be attributed to Karina Perez, Director of CCIA’s Space & Spectrum Policy Center:

“Expanding commercial and military satellite capabilities requires coordinated federal action to address the growing launch capacity needs, modernize domestic spaceports, simplify launch reviews, and integrate space traffic management. We applaud the Administration for coming up with a plan that sets ambitious goals and deadlines to solve the growing launch capacity issue and secure U.S. leadership in space. ”
