CCIA is an international, not-for-profit trade association representing a broad cross section of communications and technology firms across the globe. CCIA members employ more than 1.6 million workers, invest more than $100 billion in research and development, and contribute trillions of dollars in productivity to the global economy. For more than 50 years, CCIA has championed open markets, open systems, and open networks, serving as a unified voice for the digital sector on public policy, legal, and regulatory issues. 

CCIA operates at the intersection of law, economics, and public policy to protect the digital ecosystem.

  • Global Advocacy: Engages with policymakers in the U.S. (Federal and State), the European Union, and the United Kingdom.
  • Strategic Litigation: Through the Litigation Center for the Connected Economy, CCIA files amicus briefs and challenges unconstitutional or anti-innovation laws in court, including landmark First Amendment cases at the U.S. Supreme Court.
  • Economic Research: The CCIA Research Center produces empirical studies that quantify the economic value of the tech industry, such as the impact of “Fair Use” on the GDP and the costs of Digital Services Taxes.
  • Policy Centers: Operates specialized units of policy or functional expertise like the Space & Spectrum Policy Center and the State Policy Center.
