Washington — The Computer & Communications Industry Association is announcing promotions for two of its DC staff.
Matthew Schruers, who has served as CCIA’s Vice President of Law & Policy since 2010, will be promoted to Chief Operating Officer. Schruers joined CCIA in 2005 from the law firm of Morrison & Foerster LLP and has represented the organization before Congress, courts, and the Administration on matters including internet law, intellectual property, competition and international trade. He has also been an adjunct professor for over 10 years, teaching courses at Georgetown and American University.
“Matt is a trusted adviser to our member companies and the technology community at large. His expertise and insight have been invaluable and we look forward to his expanded role in the organization’s leadership,” said CCIA President & CEO Ed Black.
CCIA is also pleased to announce the promotion of Marianela López-Galdos to Global Competition Counsel. She has served as Director of Competition & Regulatory Policy since joining CCIA in 2017. In her new position, she will continue her advocacy work on competition and regulatory policy. Prior to joining CCIA, López-Galdos worked at the George Washington University Competition Law Center, the Inter-American Development Bank, Federal Trade Commission and at Hogan Lovells LLP.
“As competition policy takes an ever more prominent role on the global stage, it is important that CCIA continue its long tradition of fighting for competition policy that drives innovation,” said Black. “Marianela’s work on this front has been tireless and her new position reflects our confidence in her experience and expertise, ” said Black.
