CCIA, Tech Industry Delegation Meets Upcoming Maltese EU Presidency

Valletta, Malta — The tech industry is meeting with Maltese ministers in Valletta today and tomorrow to discuss Malta’s Presidency of the Council of the EU starting 1st January.

The delegation will discuss the legislative “Digital Single Market” proposals which Malta will chair the Council’s negotiations on.

CCIA Europe will moreover present the tech industry’s recommendations when meeting today with Emmanuel Mallia (Minister for Competitiveness and Digital, Maritime and Services Economy, Government of Malta).

The following can be attributed to Emmanuel Mallia (Minister for Competitiveness and Digital, Maritime and Services Economy, Government of Malta):

“Malta’s Presidency will be committed to advancing EU reforms towards a Digital Single Market that is innovative, competitive and open to foreign investments, with a view to drive economic growth across the EU. It will provide an opportunity to showcase both Maltese technological successes and lead EU negotiations to achieve a thriving digital economy. The discussion will focus on the EU Digital Single Market proposals which Malta will steer the Council’s discussions on during its Presidency.”

The following can be attributed to Christian Borggreen (CCIA Europe Director):

“We are delighted to meet with the Maltese government to discuss how its EU Presidency can help guide Europe towards a truly digital Single Market.  Europe needs the right legal framework for copyright, audiovisual, and telecommunications to benefit our digitised economy, startups, and internet users.”
