CCIA Supports Administration’s AI Executive Order

Washington – President Trump signed an Executive Order today aimed at strengthening America’s leadership in artificial intelligence development and deployment by advancing policies that promote innovation and improve security.

The Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA) welcomes the Administration’s recognition that maintaining the U.S.’ competitive edge requires policies that promote innovation while addressing important national security interests. CCIA particularly appreciates the Order’s commitment to a voluntary framework for evaluating frontier AI models and the inclusion of strong confidentiality, intellectual property protection, cybersecurity, and nondisclosure safeguards. These provisions help ensure that companies can work with government partners to address national security risks without undermining innovation.

As policymakers continue to evaluate the opportunities presented by frontier AI models, it is critical that regulation pursue an approach that preserves flexibility for continued technological leadership. This EO represents an important step toward achieving that balance and we look forward to further engagement.
