Washington – The White House has released its recommendations for AI policy and regulations for Congress and federal agencies to adopt. The framework includes recommendations aimed at maintaining the U.S. position as a global leader in AI.
The Computer & Communications Industry Association has advocated for tech policy that advances innovation for more than 50 years, and CCIA’s Research Center has released a study finding that generative AI is the most rapidly adopted general-purpose technology in modern history, with 3 in 5 U.S. adults using generative AI tools less than 3 years from the first public release of a generative AI tool. About 2 in 5 U.S. adults already use generative AI tools at work, and those workers report an average 15% productivity boost.
The following can be attributed to CCIA President & CEO Matt Schruers:
“The Administration’s framework underscores the urgency of advancing U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence. Congress must focus on fostering innovation and deployment at scale, and work closely with industry experts to ensure legislative and regulatory actions are appropriately tailored and forward-looking. An overly restrictive approach not calibrated for risk may invite legal challenge, and will forfeit the opportunity to advance American competitiveness.”
