Washington – Amid its response to U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports, China has announced antimonopoly investigations targeting Google and other firms, according to various news reports. This latest investigation, along with examinations of Nvidia and possibly Intel are seen as part of China’s retaliation against the measures taken by the Trump administration.
The Computer & Communications Industry Association has advocated for competition in the technology industry since 1972.
The following can be attributed to CCIA President & CEO Matt Schruers:
“U.S. businesses are increasingly attacked abroad through actions thinly disguised as investigations or regulatory interventions. These efforts, in China and beyond, are aimed at undermining U.S. competitiveness in key sectors from AI and chipmaking to digital services and operating systems.
“We appreciate members of Congress asking incoming Cabinet appointees about defending U.S. companies from this type of discriminatory treatment by other countries, even including some trading partners.
“News like the AI advances announced by DeepSeek should be a reminder that the United States is in a global race for technology leadership. The outcome of this global competition to be innovation leaders has a direct impact on the U.S. economy and national security. It is important to note when other governments are hamstringing U.S. companies’ ability to compete and consider how to respond.”
