Washington — The third annual review of the agreement used to transfer data between the US and EU begins this week. European Commission, Data Protection Authorities, and their US counterparts, will review progress made over the past year and discuss areas for further improvement to the EU-US Privacy Shield. Currently 5,000 companies from insurance and health care to tech and credit card companies participate.
Since June, Keith Krach was confirmed as Privacy Shield Ombudsperson and the PCLOB Board has reached its full slate of members. The FTC continues to actively enforce compliance, and settled with 5 companies this month that falsely claimed certification under the framework.
