CCIA Welcomes Austrian EU Council Presidency

Brussels, BELGIUM — The Computer & Communications Industry Association welcomes the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.  Austria will steer negotiations from July 1 to December 31 on key EU proposals such as copyright, e-Privacy, online platforms, and digital taxation.

The following can be attributed to CCIA Europe Vice President Christian Borggreen:

“The Austrian Presidency inherits a number of tricky legislative files, such as copyright, digital taxation and ePrivacy.  We urge Austria to lead a reflection on whether these proposals ultimately will help or harm Europe’s digitalisation and global competitiveness.”

CCIA presented its recommendations on how to achieve a thriving European Digital Single Market to the incoming Austrian Presidency in Vienna in March.
