CCIA Applauds Hillary Clinton’s Tech Agenda

Washington — Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton released a tech and innovation agenda today that shows she understands what is needed to grow the economy. The Computer & Communications Industry Association applauded the agenda which included support for patent reform, net neutrality, the free flow of data, high speed Internet and a promise to fight for open Internet policies around the world.

The following can be attributed to CCIA President & CEO Ed Black:

“The ability to grow the economy in the future will depend on a good foundation for the digital economy. This is the platform of a candidate who can be trusted to grow the economy.

“In an economic climate where more jobs are coming from the technology sector, Clinton’s policy proposal shows a deep understanding of what underlying conditions will lay the foundation for future growth. From building a better workforce to ensuring citizens have access to information and fast Internet, Clinton outlines an agenda to invest in workers and Internet infrastructure. She wades through controversies and comes through with policies that promote competition and startups — like preventing discrimination on the network and abuse of the patent system.

“Any presidential candidate can say they plan to promote job creation, but what distinguishes Clinton is her articulation of a platform to provide better trained workers, Internet access, and policies both here and with our trading partners to deliver economic growth.”

CCIA joined other tech trade associations in sending a “Technology Sector Presidential Platform” letter to the presidential candidates last month.
