CCIA, SAPIE Present EU Presidency Recommendations To Slovak Leaders

Bratislava, Slovakia — Ahead of the Slovak Republic’s EU Presidency, SAPIE and CCIA met with political leaders and presented recommendations.

CCIA Europe and SAPIE met with Slovak President Andrej Kiska, Deputy Minister of Economy and other senior government officials and shared policy recommendations on how Europe can digitally transform its economy and reap the innovation and job creation benefits.

The Slovak Republic will take the reins of the Council of the European Union on 1st July and steer the negotiations on important EU Digital Single Market proposals including copyright, telecommunications, online environment and e-commerce.

The following can be attributed to President Andrej Kiska:

“We need a forward-looking vision for Europe and Slovakia. We need to create the right

conditions for technology to deliver shape the future and create jobs. I want to make sure we

are open to cooperation, we have the right education system and opportunities for the young

people.”

“The Presidency is an opportunity to showcase Slovak know-how and steer Europe towards digital transformation, innovation and job creation.  We were encouraged by the Slovak government’s preparedness and we look forward to working with them during the Presidency.”

The following can be attributed to SAPIE Executive Manager Petra Dzurovčinová:

“As a small nation we need to build alliances and find partnerships to embrace innovation and global opportunities in the digital age. In SAPIE we are working with the Slovak government on the topics regarding digital agenda and the Digital Single Market during the Slovak presidency and beyond.”
