Tech Industry Groups Ask Congress To Add Reforms To Surveillance Act

Washington — The expiration of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act is fast approaching. CCIA and other tech industry groups sent a letter today urging Congressional leaders to consider orderly debate on the provision that gives the government surveillance authorization. The goal of debate ahead of a vote to renew FISA would be to add meaningful protections for Internet users’ privacy and civil liberties, improved transparency and accountability, and continued oversight.
