CCIA Applauds Bipartisan Congressional Letter On USMCA

Washington — A group of 126 members of Congress, has sent a letter to United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer expressing concern with a provision in the implementation of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). The letter, organized by Congressman David Schweikert, Ariz.-06), Congressman Ron Kind, Wis.-03, Congressman Earl Blumenauer, Ore-03, and Congressman Vern Buchanan, Fla-13, supports the current de minimis threshold and opposes lowering it through legislation.

The Computer & Communications Industry Association welcomed the letter. CCIA previously joined a dozen associations in a letter to House and Senate leaders, asking them to support the USMCA. The following can be attributed to CCIA President & CEO Ed Black:

“We appreciate the leadership of Representatives Earl Blumenauer, Vern Buchanan, Ron Kind and David Schweikert in keeping protections for small businesses as we implement this key 21st Century trade deal with our closest neighbors.”
