Washington — The Commerce Department is asking stakeholders for input on privacy. NTIA published a request for comments in the Federal Register today on “ways to advance consumer privacy while protecting prosperity and innovation.” NTIA has proposed a set of privacy principles and outcomes for consumers and industry, along with high-level goals for future privacy action at the federal level. NTIA’s proposal runs in parallel to NIST’s recently announced privacy engineering risk management framework, which is envisioned as a voluntary tool for organizations to better identify, assess, manage, and communicate about privacy risks.
