CCIA Hires Joshua Landau As Patent Counsel

Washington — The Computer & Communications Industry Association is pleased to announce it has hired Joshua Landau as patent counsel. Landau will be the lead blogger for CCIA’s Patent Progress, advocate for patent reform and handle CCIA’s regulatory and legal work on patents.

Landau joined CCIA from WilmerHale, where he represented clients in patent litigation, counseling, and prosecution, including trials in both district courts and before the PTAB.  Prior to his time at WilmerHale, Landau was a Legal Fellow on Senator Al Franken’s Judiciary staff.  Landau received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.S.E.E. from the University of Michigan.

The following can be attributed to CCIA President & CEO Ed Black:

“We are excited to have Landau on board to provide the depth and insight to address the important challenges in the patent arena.  He will continue our efforts to provide information and briefs to encourage courts and policymakers to remedy the growing misuse of the patent system. With patent trolls costing innovative US companies more than $29 billion dollars a year, reining in the abuse is a no cost or low cost solution that deserves to get bipartisan support. Landau will be taking this message around the globe in his filings and posts.”

At University of Michigan, Landau was a music DJ for WCBN and later ran the college station. Landau lives in Arlington with his wife Kristin Fosdick and rescue dog Sasha. When not advocating on patents, he enjoys skiing and biking.
