Digital Video Piracy Impacts on Sales Overestimated in Key Report

A single paper on digital video copyright infringement has been central to many aggressive claims about the impact of digital piracy to the U.S. film and television industries. This report evaluates the methodological choices made in that paper and shows how they biased the paper's estimates several times higher than is plausible. The aggregate net impact of piracy on sales is difficult to distinguish from zero in the literature.
