Washington – Congress is expected to consider a bill this week, the Expanding Appalachia’s Broadband Access Act (H.R. 2474), that would direct the Comptroller General to issue a report on the capability of the Appalachian Regional Commission to include low earth orbit satellites in projects to improve broadband access in rural areas.
The Computer & Communications Industry Association has supported increased access to affordable high-speed broadband for more than three decades.
The following can be attributed to CCIA Vice President for Federal Affairs Brian McMillan:
“Low Earth orbit satellites offer a powerful and reliable way to deliver broadband access to rural areas, allowing more people to access information and economic opportunities. We appreciate Congress advancing legislation to help connect more Americans to the digital economy.”
