CCIA Hires a Trade Policy Manager, Adds Two New Positions at its Litigation Center and Space & Spectrum Policy Center

Washington — The Computer & Communications Industry Association is pleased to welcome Burke Kappler, Dr. Yaswant Devarakonda and Caroline Palmer to the team of its not-for-profit tech trade association.

Burke Kappler is the Deputy Director of the CCIA Litigation Center. Before joining CCIA, he spent 19 years at the Federal Trade Commission, serving as the Assistant General Counsel for the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Chief of Staff for the Office of General Counsel. Kappler had previously advised and counseled FTC staff on investigational issues and litigated process enforcement matters in federal courts.

Dr. Yaswant Devarakonda is the Manager of the Space & Spectrum Policy Center. He joined CCIA after leaving his position as the American Institute of Physics Fellow at the Department of State’s Office of Space Affairs. There, he led on the Department’s commercial space strategy and on MENA space diplomacy.

Caroline Palmer, Trade Policy Manager, previously served as a policy associate at the National Journal and a Google Public Policy Fellow detailed at The National Interest, where she managed the Techland blog.

CCIA has advocated for innovation and policies that encourage competition and growth in the tech sector since 1972.

The following can be attributed to CCIA President and CEO Matt Schruers:

“As our association embarks on its 53rd year of furthering our mission – advocating for policies that benefit innovation, consumers, and the economy – we are pleased that Burke, Yaswant, and Caroline have joined our team.

“Lawmakers throughout the United States make choices every day that will shape the nation’s digital economy and internet ecosystem. CCIA’s new team members will help us advocate for policy choices that foster innovation, expand digital opportunities, and ensure the continued freedom of online speech.”
