CCIA Supports Colorado’s Bill on Consumer Protections for Artificial Intelligence

Washington – The Computer & Communications Industry Association has sent a letter to Colorado Governor Polis on a proposed consumer protection bill for artificial intelligence, expressing our support.  SB25B-004 will provide additional time to thoughtfully address SB24-205, a first-in-the-nation comprehensive artificial intelligence law,  and develop a solution that both strengthens consumer protections and preserves Colorado’s innovation economy. Earlier this week, the Colorado state legislature voted to delay implementing SB24-205 until the end of June next year, five months after the law was supposed to go into effect.

The following can be attributed to Aodhan Downey, West Regional State Policy Manager at CCIA:

“We appreciate the Legislature’s willingness to provide more time to work on the legislation passed last year that would have placed an immense burden on all businesses in Colorado. We welcome the opportunity to continue discussions with policymakers and stakeholders to find workable solutions for the businesses while also providing robust consumer protections. CCIA is committed to participating in stakeholder conversations and finding a solution.”
