Washington – Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) introduced the App Store Freedom Act, which would threaten online app store safety and security criteria, and limit how providers of leading app stores operate. It would also inhibit secure payment systems from restricting unknown entities’ access to users’ sensitive financial data.
The Computer & Communications Industry Association has advocated for competition in the marketplace for over 50 years.
The following can be attributed to CCIA President, Matt Schruers:
“The App Store Freedom Act would hinder mobile ecosystems’ efforts to protect users from dangerous apps and other security risks. Businesses require flexibility to respond to dynamic threats and micromanaging software distribution would undermine that goal.”
