Washington – The Computer & Communications Industry Association filed comments and delivered remarks today on the proposed UN Scientific Panel on AI and the Global Policy Dialogue on AI. The governments of Spain and Costa Rica are leading an intergovernmental process to establish these two bodies, in line with the outcomes of the UN’s Global Digital Compact.
CCIA’s comments frame the establishment of these two bodies as an opportunity to complement existing international efforts to advance cooperation on AI research and governance practices. The multidisciplinary Panel should synthesize and disseminate existing research on opportunities and challenges in deploying AI solutions to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals, while the Policy Dialogue should serve as a forum for exchanging global best practices and lessons in AI governance, and highlighting AI’s positive impact on global economic progress and development.
