CCIA UK’s Statement on AI Copyright Consultation Announcement

London – The UK has released its open consultation on Artificial Intelligence and copyright today, asking for comments on how to ensure any UK AI framework supports both creative industries and AI innovation.

The Computer & Communications Industry Association issued the following response, attributable to Matthew Sinclair, Senior Director, CCIA UK:

“The Government has set the right goal for these changes and the UK can benefit enormously with a regulatory framework that enables the development of leading AI models here in Britain. The outcome will likely depend on getting the details right and whether Ministers can get the balance right. In particular it will be critical to ensure that the transparency requirements are realistic and do not ask AI developers to compromise their work by giving away trade secrets and highly sensitive information that could jeopardise the safety and security of their models.”
