Event: CCIA Press Briefing Tuesday On EU Digital Taxation Proposals

The European Commission is scheduled to present a package of digital tax legislative proposals on Wednesday, March 21.  The package will include two Directives:

  • The first Directive will introduce new principles for taxation of digital activities, eg. through user engagement and contributions to a platform.
  • The second Directive targeted at online platforms’ online advertisement or intermediary services.  It introduces a digital services tax on companies’ gross revenues.
Taxation is the legal competence of the EU Member States and adoption of the EU proposals would require unanimity.

In parallel to the EU’s deliberations, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is seeking international tax reform.  The OECD released its “Interim Report on Tax Challenges Arising from Digitalisation” Friday ahead of G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Monday and Tuesday in Buenos Aires.  Link to CCIA’s press release on the OECD report.

WHAT:  Press Conference Call on EU Digital Taxation Proposals (for reporters only)
WHEN:  Tuesday, 20th March at 15:30 CET
