Washington – The Computer & Communications Industry Association supports Senate efforts to ensure the U.S. remains a leader in artificial intelligence with its Future of AI Innovation Act, S. 3952. The Act would promote AI guidelines and standards across government agencies, including the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and encourage partnerships between government and AI companies to develop these standards. Additionally, the bill underscores the importance of international alliances with U.S. allies on AI standards, research, and development, and emphasizes the need to elevate industry solutions and innovations in the AI space.
The following can be attributed to CCIA Vice President for Federal Affairs Brian McMillan:
“As global competition in AI intensifies, the U.S. must continue leading global policy discussions that support innovation and ensure the next generation of breakthroughs. We commend Senators Young and Cantwell for introducing important legislation that strengthens America’s AI ecosystem through AI research, standard-setting, and industry-government cooperation.”
