London – During President Trump’s visit to the UK this week, the U.S. and UK announced the Tech Prosperity Deal, an agreement to accelerate collaboration on cutting-edge fields including AI, quantum, and nuclear technologies. The pact establishes joint research initiatives, with a particular focus on harnessing AI for breakthroughs in targeted medical treatments, fusion energy, and other shared priorities. Notably, it aims to advance pro-innovation AI frameworks and adoption; promote transatlantic AI exports across chips, data centers, and models; and deepen ties between the U.S. Center for AI Standards and Innovation and the UK AI Security Institute.
The Computer & Communications Industry Association welcomes the Pact as an important step in strengthening U.S.-UK collaboration.
The following can be attributed to Matthew Sinclair, CCIA UK’s Senior Director:
“The announcements this week show that there is a huge opportunity for the UK to play an exciting role in global AI development. The Government should now take advantage of this important moment and make progress on the vital issues raised, including energy, technology adoption, and a pro-innovation framework for AI development.”
