CCIA UK Responds to UK Google Search Investigation

London – UK antitrust officials have announced an investigation into Google search, marking the first inquiry under a new digital markets regime. The Competition and Markets Authority would examine how Google search impacts competitors, businesses and consumers.

The following can be attributed to CCIA Senior Director nd head of CCIA’s London office Matthew Sinclair:

“In its new investigation the CMA should reflect on the existing dynamism in search, with major new competitors in the sector. Search plays a vital economic role for the UK, and the regulator needs to take care to promote the innovation and growth that ministers have rightly asked regulators to prioritise.”
